NATO air defenses shot down a missile fired from Iran, the Turkish Defense Ministry said. It is the fourth time this month that the military alliance has reported defending member country Turkey from an apparent Iranian attack.
Air-and-missile defenses deployed in the eastern Mediterranean by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization intercepted the munition, the Defense Ministry said.
Turkey didn’t immediately release further details about the missile’s target. Previous missiles have been fired toward southern Turkey, where the U.S. maintains a major military base called Incirlik, a facility it shares with the Turkish military. The base hosts U.S. troops and nuclear weapons.
