
Background
The Netherlands is an American ally cooperating in research and development of missile defense systems. The country along with the United States and Germany is involved in Trilateral Frigate Program.
Current Development
The Netherlands plays very important role in developing missile defense capabilities for the NATO as a whole. The
Netherlands provides an Integration Test Bed facility which is essential for development of multi-layered missile defense system under the NATO command as well as for ensuring the interoperability with US missile defense systems.
Capabilities
The
Netherlands currently operates PAC-3 Patriot surface-to-air missiles. In addition it possesses
Stinger weapon platform. It directly cooperates with the US on integration of the RIM-162 Evolved Sea Sparrow Missiles.
