North Korea
Since the end of the Korean War, North Korea has continued to maintain one of the most isolated societies in the world. This isolation has led to many intelligence discrepancies regarding their ballistic missile and nuclear weapons programs.

North Korea is known to possess nuclear weapons and is known to have a very active ballistic missile development program. Reuters stated in January 2011 in an interview with then Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, that North Korea's arsenal consisted of more than 800 ballistic missiles and more than 1,000 missiles of various ranges. It has sold missiles and technology overseas, with Iran a top buyer.

Pyongyang's arsenal already includes intermediate-range missiles that can hit targets at up to 3,000 km (1,860 miles) away, the Yonhap news agency quoted a South Korean official as saying in 2010. Those missiles could hit all of Japan and put U.S. military bases in Guam at risk. An inter-continental ballistic missile, or ICBM, could potentially threaten the continental United States.

Adding to U.S. concerns, the North also revealed late last year it had made considerable progress in its uranium enrichment programme, potentially giving it a second route to make a nuclear bomb.

Distance from North Korea and U.S. bases in Guam

Distance between Pyongyang and Guam is 3388 km or 2105 miles.

Distance is 3388 kilometers or 2105 miles or 1829 nautical miles

Pyongyan and Guam are 3388 kilometers or 2105 miles apart. The distance reflected between the capital of North Korea and Guam is the theoretical air distance; flying between the two locations can be a different distance, depending on airport location and actual route chosen.

A ccording to the INF Treaty definitions, a Short-Range Ballistic Missile (SRBM) is defined as one with a "range capability equal to or in excess of 500 kilometers but not in excess of 1000 kilometers", while the Intermediate-Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) ranges from 1000kilometers up to 5500kilometers.

Given the estimated distance between Pyongyan and Guam's military bases, The North Korean possession of IRBMs is a grave cause of concern.
