Bahrain
 
 
Background
 
Bahrain  is a small nation in the Middle East that has tense relations with Iran as a result of a failed coup attempt in 1981 which is viewed as being engineered by Iran. Bahrain was deemed a major non NATO ally by the Bush Administration in 2001 and is a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Arab League, the UN, and the WTO.  

 
Current Developments

Bahrain had purchased a $43.6 million contract for a balistic missile radar system from Lockheed Martin and had members of the the Bahrain Defense Force trained on how to maintain and operate the system in Syracuse, New York.
 
 
Capabilities
 
Bahrain is equipped with an AN/TPS-59 (v) 3B ballistic missile defense radar system along with a Patriot PAC-3 missile system.
