In late 2012, Qatar secured the purchase of both the PATRIOT missile systems and the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), at approximately $9.9b and $6.5b.
Also as a member of the GCC, Qatar is involved in discussions with Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait to form a regional ballistic missile defense shield.
